Very pleased to share two new songs from Minneapolis songsmith, Brad Senne. I had the good fortune of putting the final touches on these delicately assembled indie-folk gems and wanted to invite you to take a listen to what he has presented over at his Bandcamp page. Enjoy! https://bradsenne.bandcamp.com
Wonderful work Brad!
On August 2nd my friend, Tender Ness/a.k.a. Peter Witrak released his album 'Blues & Oranges' and I am so proud to have been involved with the process of recording, mixing & producing it. We first began recording last January and worked through the coldest months and into the heart of the summer tracking and mixing as we went. It was such a trip, it was one of those rare projects which you are so deeply immersed in that when it was suddenly done and I listened to the final master as a whole, I had that pleasantly surreal sense of, "Wow, I was really a part of that?" - with a proud smile from ear to ear and yet a little disbelief.
Peter has ordered up a pressing of vinyl LP's t be available for purchase this Fall but in the meantime, his entire album is now available online for digital download.
Please, visit his website, listen & purchase his fabulous songs then go see him perform! He is next playing September 3rd for Pride at Bayfront Park and will have the notorious Veikko Lepisto backing him on upright bass and the inimitable Cory Coffman on percussion. tender-ness.com
It has been awhile but I am pleased to say that the lack of recent updates has nothing to do with a slow summer on the North Shore. This post might read more like a newsletter than a brief update so please bear with me, here we go -
The Turbo Rathvon album has finally wrapped and the guys from T.R. were gracious enough to let me publicly post the very first audio sample from the project. The track is called "Mannequin" and is one of a collection of 9 songs they plan to release very soon, so please click on the links to get official Turbo Rathvon updates on the impending release date.
I cannot be more excited to share this track. Over a year ago these gentlemen invited me over for 4 days of marathon recording. Armed with a case of mics, preamps and espresso, I showed up to help engineer the recording of the drums and nearly all of the bass guitar parts which ended up on the final mixes.
They spent the next year performing & recording their own overdubs whenever they could until this summer when they presented to me the digital audio files of all the separate instrument tracks for all nine songs. I was only too eager to roll up my sleeves and get to work on mixing & mastering the project. So without further ado, I present to you - "Mannequin" by Turbo Rathvon
In other news, the Sadkin Sound Productions website has been cosmetically re-touched - completely; content edited & streamlined but also with some notable additions - such as FULL multi-tracking capabilities. Expanding beyond what was a mixing, mastering & overdub environment, I am now able to invite most bands and group ensembles over for multi-track digital recording. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to call or email me.
In addition to the website redux, I am happy to share that I now have a 'house kit'. It is a 1979 Ludwig drum set. In fact it was my Father's (a 10 piece which I've presently setup as a 4 piece). He played it for two and a half decades all over Minnesota Country Western Music bars. I have been banging the heck out of it, but I'll replace the heads and tune it up for your session!
Even more - I have added some new audio sculpting tools. I've merrily put them each through their paces and have been met with some outstanding results. I am now able to add the sonic signatures of Neve 1073, Neve 88RS Console, Thermionic 'Culture Vulture' and the gorgeously sublime, AKG BX 20 Spring Reverb all via Universal Audio.
It doesn't end there, I have a variety of projects which are underway. I will be eager to share some additional news as soon as possible; I think it is going to be an exciting Winter.
Thank you for your continued interest.
Sadkin Sound Productions recently finished putting the final touches on a great collection of songs from an outstanding Duluth band called Paper Parlor; this young group of guys get to celebrate their efforts in an album release show tonight at Beaners!
Sadkin Sound Productions now offering the 'sound' of the Manley Vari-Mu mastering compressor/limiter
I just finished mastering my last project with the new UAD Manley Variable-Mu compressor/limiter ~ yes, it brought the goods.
A staple in most major mastering houses, its oft-described sublime color and unique ability to ''glue" mixes together giving music a 'big hug', is now an additional option.
Between the UAD Fairchild 670 and the Brainworx Shadow Hills Mastering Compressor, I am pleased to announce a new powerhouse mastering compressor added to the toolbox of audio goodies here at Sadkin Sound Prod.
oh, and it's springtime - yaaaaay!
Sadkin Sound Productions just got some new studio microphones. I proudly present an Advanced Audio CM47 large diaphragm tube condenser mic and a matched stereo pair of CM414's. Some brilliant new designs based on some of the very, very best of vintage audio esoterica. Yep.
Yet another Duluth band set to release their record ...and they asked me to be a part of it! It was my pleasure to master Phillip of Nazareth's mixes and ready the collection of songs for mass duplication. These guys seriously ROCK, we are talking serious 'face melter's' here. Please ready yourselves for this, Duluth may never be the same. Thanks, you guys!
I've had the very good fortune to have the opportunity to collaborate on some very wonderful new album releases. My contribution served, in both cases, as mastering engineer. One release happened yesterday ~ Ryan Lane's Aspiring Romantic
The Duluth News Tribune had this to report.
The other album to look for is set to be released on February 20th, 2015 ~ Space Carpet
It will be their debut release, I am very excited for them!
I just received my 'Square' in the mail, Sadkin Sound Productions is now offering a way to make payments easier; all major credit cards now accepted!
Had the fortune of working with Mr. Jason Wussow on mastering the new Wood Blind single, "Big Voice"; I loved the track, I kept thinking that it had a little bit of a Belafonte-vibe going on ~ which I adored.
The B-side was also just as compelling, a rootsy, ska-meets-country/folk overture to the plight of the overlooked & overworked; a collaboration between Wood Blind and Teague Alexy. A couple of superb songs and as always, a pleasure working with Jason.
I sent the tracks directly off to the good people down at Noiseland duplication so keep an eye out for the single to be available on both vinyl and CD in the coming weeks!! https://www.facebook.com/woodblindska
